Chute Wizard
This policy supports the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System interface. For more information about this interface, see Getting Started with the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System Interface.
The Lyngsoe IMMS interface is a system configurable option; this wizard is only available if SirsiDynix has made the functionality available to your library system. Contact your sales representative if you want to use the Lyngsoe IMMS interface.
The Chute policy is used to describe a physical place in the library where an item might be sent after being sorted (such as a self-check station or circulation desk). The Chute, Sort Point, and the Station Library policies together represent the specific physical chute or bin itself, into which items are placed by library staff or automation.
The Station policy specifies the Sort Point policy that sorts items processed by that station. The Sort Point policy determines the Chute policy that evaluates the sorted item. The Chute policy then determines whether or not a given item can be placed in the physical location that corresponds to the Chute policy, based on that policy's configured criteria. If the item meets the criteria of the Chute policy, WorkFlows indicates that the user should physically sort the item accordingly; if the item does not meet the chute's criteria, the next chute in the list of chutes in the Sort Point policy evaluates the item. If the item doesn't meet the criteria of any chute in the Sort Point policy's list of chutes, the chute set as the default in the Sort Point policy processes the item.
The Sort Point policy (and, consequently, its list of Chute policies) is checked when a process that checks or changes an item's status (such as Discharge/Checkin or Get Item Status) takes place (and that wizard has been configured to check chutes). At that point, the user receives a message indicating the physical location the associated item should go to.
From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Sort Point policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.
Attributes
The following attributes are defined for the Chute policies:
| • | Name |
| • | Description |
| • | Item Destination |
| • | Destination List |
| • | Item Category 1-10 |
| • | Item Type |
This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Chute policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.
This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
This attribute specifies which sorted items this Chute policy selects. Select one of the following options:
| • | Items for any destination—Specifies that this policy can select items on their way to any destination. |
| • | Items to be sent to any location at the Station Library—Specifies that this policy selects items on their way to any location at the station library. |
| • | Items to be sent to the Hold Shelf of the Station Library—Specifies that this policy selects items on their way to the hold shelf of the station library. |
| • | Items to be sent to a different library than the Station Library—Specifies that this policy selects items on their way to a library that's not the station library. |
| • | Items to be sent to a Library in the Destination List—Specifies that this policy selects items on their way to one of the libraries in the policy's Destination List. |
This attribute specifies the libraries to which items selected by this policy belong. Type a list of libraries (each entry separated by a comma) or use the Library gadget to create a list of libraries.
Note: The Destination List is only used by the policy if the "Items to be sent to a Library in the Destination List" item destination is selected.
The Chute policy selects items with the Item Category 1-10 value specified in this attribute. Type a list of item category values (each entry separated by a comma) or use the Item Category 1-10 gadget to create a list of item category values.
The Chute policy selects items with the item type specified in this attribute. Type a list of item type values (each entry separated by a comma) or use the Item Type gadget to create a list of item type values.
