Sort Point Wizard
This policy supports the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System interface. For more information about this interface, see Getting Started with the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System Interface.
The Lyngsoe IMMS interface is a system configurable option; this wizard is only available if SirsiDynix has made the functionality available to your library system. Contact your sales representative if you want to use the Lyngsoe IMMS interface.
The Sort Point policy is used to describe a physical place in the library where items are sorted (for example, a self-check station, a sorting machine, or a circulation desk). This policy contains an ordered list of Chute policies (which determine how the items are sorted). For more information about the Chute policy, see Chute Wizard.
For more information about the concept of sort points, see the "Sorting points" page of the Lyngsoe IMMS documentation (https://lyngsoe-imms.com/docs/en_US/system/concepts/sortingPoints.html).
In SirsiDynix Symphony, the Sort Point policy is used in conjunction with the Station Library to represent a physical workstation (or a small group of them) or a sorting machine that has one or more physical chutes or bins that can be used. The Sort Point, the Station Library, and the Chute policy together represent the specific physical chute or bin itself, into which items are placed by library staff or automation.
WorkFlows treats an invalid sort point policy as blank (as if a sort point has not been set).
From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Sort Point policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.
Attributes
The Sort Point wizard displays the following attributes.
| • | Name |
| • | Description |
| • | Ordered Chute List |
| • | Default Chute |
This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Sort Point policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.
This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
This attribute describes the order of Chute policies the Sort Point policy should use to determine where items should go physically (for example, a chute or bin). Type a list of chutes in the preferred order (each entry separated by a comma) or use the Chute gadget to create an ordered list of chutes.
This attribute specifies the Chute policy this Sort Policy should use to sort an item if the item doesn't meet the criteria for being sorted into a chute from the Ordered Chute List. Select a chute from the Default Chute drop-down list.
