Sort Point

This feature supports the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System interface. For more information about this interface, see Getting Started with the Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System Interface.

The Lyngsoe IMMS interface is a system configurable option; this feature is only available if SirsiDynix has made the functionality available to your library system. Contact your sales representative if you want to use the Lyngsoe IMMS interface.

Click Sort Point, and the Select Sort Point dialog opens. The Sort Point policy is used to describe a physical place in the library where items are sorted (for example, a self-check station, a sorting machine, or a circulation desk). Select a Sort Point from the drop-down menu (or select the blank option to not associate a sort point with the workstation). If your library has been configured to use external material management (such as Lyngsoe Intelligent Material Management System) with SirsiDynix Symphony, a sort point (blank or otherwise) is required to use the following wizards:

Check Item Status
Discharge Bookings
Discharging
Discharging Bookdrop
Fine Free Discharge
Manage Hold Shelf
Modify Holds for Item
Modify Holds for User
Onshelf Items
Pending Transits
Receive Transit
Remove Item Hold
Remove User Hold

If you are using WorkFlows on a non-named station, WorkFlows prompts you to select a sort point when you attempt to open one of the listed wizards, if this preference hasn't been set. For named stations, the Sort Point attribute set in the Station policy overrides this preference setting: on named stations, this preference setting cannot be modified.

For more information about sort points, see Sort Point Wizard. For information about the sort point setting in the Station policy, see Sort Point.

If the specified sort point is invalid, the sort point is set to blank.
