 Country Code Wizard
Country Code WizardWith the SMS feature of SirsiDynix Symphony (see SMS Notifications), every phone number must include a coutry code. The country code policy specifies the country code, a description (the name of the country), and the dialing prefix to use for sorting in the SMS Message Logs. You must also specify one of the policies to use as the default selection.
Attributes
The Country Code wizard includes the following attributes.
| • | Name |
| • | Description |
| • | Country code |
| • | Use as default |
This attribute is used to define the policy name or name of the country code. This name is a two character code that must match a value from the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 standard (for more information about the codes, see http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/iso-3166-1_decoding_table.htm). If the value does not match a code from the ISO standard, those SMS messages that use that policy will be rejected by the SMS server and will not be sent.
This field must be only 2 characters in length.
This attribute provides more information about the policy. This is the text that is used to display to users when selecting the Country Code to use. The description may be up to 30 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
This attribute allows you to specify the dialing prefix that displays in the SMS Message Logs (for more information about these logs, see View SMS Message Logs Wizard). This allows you to sort the message logs based on the dialing prefix that corresponds to the policy Name value.
The Country code values included by default have been validated to correspond to each policy at the time of release.
However, this value is display only - the system does not validate that a change to the value here actually corresponds to the given policy Name value, nor is this value used for sending the text message. Instead, the Name value is used by the SMS server to determine the regional dialing code to use.
The country code may be up to 3 characters in length.
This attribute allows you to specify which policy is the default. The default is the one that is automatically selected when you enter a phone number for SMS on the SMS Notice Contact tab for a user (for more information, see SMS Notice Contact Info Tab). There can be only one policy that is selected as the default.
The US (United States) policy is set as the default.
