Log Type Tab

The Log Type tab contains options to select specific types of logs for a report. Select one of the following options on this tab for the Log Type field.

All

Select this option to select transactions from all log types for the report.

History

Select the History option to select only transactions in the history logs for the report. The history logs record workstation transactions that have successfully changed the database. History logs keep track of which command transaction was sent, the date and time it was sent, which station and user access sent the command, and all of the data entered by the operator to perform the command. Both noun/verb commands and wizard functions are included. History logs are created daily, and when the Consolidate Daily Logs (Consolidate) report is run, history transactions for a particular month are consolidated to a single file. You must also select the appropriate transaction date range on the Transaction Selection tab to get the results desired. The Statistics Log (Statlog) report is run to convert monthly history logs to statistics logs.

Note: This option applies only to sites that use the obsolete InfoVIEW or character-based clients. Lines are only written to the print logs when a user prints a finished report to a system printer from the InfoVIEW or character-based clients.

Select the Print option to select only transactions in the print logs for the report. The print logs record which user printed specific finished reports, when the report was printed, and to which output device the report was sent. Only the Print Report command transaction is included in these logs. Print logs are created automatically and are maintained monthly, so the current file cannot be consolidated with the Consolidate Daily Logs report. You must also select the appropriate transaction date range on the Transaction Selection tab to get the results desired.

Statistics

Select the Statistics option to select only transactions in the statistics logs for the report. The statistics logs record exactly the same transactions as the history log, except that each specific user and item transaction is replaced with general demographic information. Statistics logs are created monthly from consolidated history logs when the Consolidate Daily Logs report is run, followed by the Statistics Log report. You must also select the appropriate transaction date range on the Transaction Selection tab to get the results desired.

System

Select the System option to select only transactions in the system logs for the report. System logs record every command transaction sent and every response received at a workstation using SirsiDynix Symphony within a particular user access. System logging is an optional feature and should never be done on a full-time basis, since recording every transaction consumes an enormous amount of disk space on your server. System logging is used mainly for training and/or investigative purposes. You must also select the appropriate transaction date range on the Transaction Selection tab to get the results desired.
