Cut Resource Helper
The Cut Resource helper is used in conjunction with the paste resource helpers to reposition resources within the hierarchy, as follows.
CTRL+X and CTRL+V key sequences cannot be used for cut and paste functions. You also cannot select multiple resources to cut using SHIFT and CTRL keys. Multiple resources can only be cut if you cut the parent resource.
Cut and Paste a Single Resource
To cut and paste a single resource

Double-click each level of the directory tree, or use the Expand helper, to display the resource you want to move in the directory tree. |

Select the resource you want to move. |
|

Click the Cut Resource helper to cut the resource from the hierarchy, place it in the paste buffer, and activate the paste helpers. You can also do the following to cut a resource. |

Right click a resource and select Cut. |
|
•
|
Select Helpers in the menu bar, then select Cut Resource. |
Once a resource has been cut, its display in the directory tree appears dimmed.

Highlight a resource in the location you want to move the cut resource, remembering that you can paste the cut resource below, before, or after the highlighted resource. |

Select the appropriate paste helper (Paste Resource Below, Paste Resource Before, or Paste Resource After) to reposition the resource. You can also do the following to reposition a resource. |

Right click a resource, select Paste, then select either Before, Below, or After. |
|
•
|
Select Helpers in the menu bar, then select either Paste Resource Below, Paste Resource Before, or Paste Resource After. |
You cannot paste a resource below another resource if it is not a child of that resource.
Cut and Paste a Branch of the Hierarchy
To cut and paste a branch

Double-click each level of the directory tree, or use the Expand helper, to display the branch of the hierarchy you want to move in the directory tree. |

Select the branch you want to move. |
|

Click the Cut Resource helper to cut the branch from the hierarchy, place it in the paste buffer, and activate the paste helpers. You can also do the following to cut a branch. |

Right click a resource and select Cut. |
|
•
|
Select Helpers in the menu bar, then select Cut Resources. |
Once a branch has been cut, its display in the directory tree appears dimmed.

Highlight the location you want to move the cut branch, remembering that you can paste the cut branch below, before, or after the highlighted location. |

Select the appropriate paste helper (Paste Resource Below, Paste Resource Before, or Paste Resource After) to reposition the branch. You can also do the following to reposition a branch. |

You cannot paste a branch of the hierarchy in a new location if the branches’ parent record is not a child in the location below which the branch is to be pasted.
Cut and Paste an Entire Collection
To cut and paste a collection

Double-click each level of the directory tree, or use the Expand helper, to display the collection you want to move in the directory tree. |

Select the collection you want to move. |
|

Click the Cut Resource helper to cut the collection from the hierarchy, place it in the paste buffer, and activate the paste helpers. You can also do the following to cut a collection. |

Right click a resource and select Cut. |
|
•
|
Select Helpers in the menu bar, then select Cut Resources. |
Once a collection has been cut, its display in the directory tree appears dimmed.

Highlight the location you want to move the cut collection, remembering that you can paste the cut collection below, before, or after the highlighted location. |
